From sketch pad to street style – a journey…..

Have you ever looked at a piece of clothing – a simple piece – a piece like the STARSTRUCK SKIRT from Australian label The Fifth label’s range MIRAGE for example – and considered how it gets from page to STAGE [so to speak]? What were the thoughts behind it – who created it – how was it conceived to be worn – how can it be worn and who is wearing it now?

That journey starts with an idea of course – and for head  designer Amy Hicks  – that idea was all about trying to capture a carefree summer vibe – a free spirited/ free – wheeling sensibility that nevertheless remained true to the brand ’s firmly established and much loved sexy tomboy aesthetic….it’s a look that has Aussie roots – but travels well…..

From there it’s all about the individual piece first and then how it sits back in with the whole – does that top reflect the mood of the collection and how does it work with the skirt – same with the short / same with the tee – and how do they service the entire look….is that initial idea still in place – still being referenced – still consistent?
