For the first time, American label WILDFOX took to the runway at New York Fashion Week, showcasing their UK-inspired AW14 collection.
Celeb guests at Pier 59 included Skylar Grey, Diane Guerrero and Nicky Hilton, as well as some of our favourite bloggers, from Aimee Song of Song of Style, Olivia Lopez of Lust For Life to Natalie Suarez of Natalie Off Duty and Arielle Nachmani of Something Navy.
The Fall / Winter 2014 collection, titled “Sense & Eccentricity” has been inspired – as the name suggests – by Jane Austen. Sensibility? Yes, but this time with an eccentric Wildfox twist.
We are seeing an interpretation of things quintessentially English: countryside-inspired looks including ruffles, pastel colours, farm motifs, toile prints and lots of florals are worn by rosy-cheeked models with messy hair. There are flowers on garments, in models’ hair, even sticking out of boots!
In their effortless, slouchy cool manner, Wildfox are mixing things up by applying a healthy portion of Rule Britannia to their collection as well. Tartan is here to stay with the iconic print featuring on tanks, jumpers and bottoms, epitomised in the “I Left My Heart in Scotland” combo. For a bit of Brit Pop, “I Need a Drink” is headlining a pastel peach graphic sweater. Oh yeah!
Which look will you be paying tribute to this autumn?
