For one day money will have no currency
Yesterday in LA, everyone’s favourite reformed sexual deviant, Russell Brand, showed us he is now an all round do-gooder, as he hosted a Buy Love Here pop up swap-shop event at the Beverly Centre. The name of the game was guests bring in a used and unneeded possession and trade it for anything from clothing to electronics, as long as they could justify their need for it.
Brand thought up the ‘social experiment’ to raise the debate of consumerism and challenge our surplus society, the whole event was filmed for his new documentary – The Pursuit of Happiness. Celebrities and companies donated; from the likes of Katy Perry, James Franco, Perez Hilton, Eva Longoria and companies like Junk Food, Levis, and Marc Jacob. Perez Hilton turned up to show his support, bringing with him a teeny tiny cushion with a ‘P’ on it (yep, we agree, you don’t need that!) Perez was also rocking his own Music Tee (the uber cool Music Tee is launching with Daisy Dares You in the UK on the 9th June at Selfridges, fyi!).
We think the event looked like loads of fun, so when’s the next one in London then, Russell???
