You may think ASOS do great clothes, accessories, shoes, make-up… (the list goes on and on!), but do you know they can also throw one heck of a party? Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to their Access All Areas Bloggers Event for a private view of the Spring Twenty Ten Collection, a gorgeous mix of tribal prints, haiwan spangle, nudes, nautical and their new range from ASOS Africa. But none of the clothes could compete with the utterly adorable Butters the dog (and she also showed us all up on the catwalk!)!
The aim of the game was to get us bloggers dolled up and sashaying down the infamous ASOS catwalk in our favourite items from the collection. Choosing just a few items was tricky, as it really is a strong collection, made up of several stories that nod to the catwalk trends we saw in September; think nudes, nautical, oversized shapes, delicate fabrics, tribal prints and heavily embellished pieces.
Bloggers struck their best poses for the ASOS photographer after picking their accessories from the huge selection (ASOS know bloggers like to style it up and add their own spin on a look!), we then took it in turn to be snapped in either head to toe ASOS or mixing a few pieces in with what we were wearing.
But I settled on several tops to go with my stripy nautical skirt; a boyfriend fit tee shape top covered in a sequinned flower pattern and with a deep V back, a faded vintage flower print tee and a sheer cream blouse/tunic with full sleeves. Below are before and after pictures of myself and the lovely Alice, from the seriously addictive site Shop Pulse, and an after shot of all-things-ASOS fashion writer, Steph doing her very best impression of a Rachel Zoe girl!
Our before and after transformations were helped greatly by the a-maz-ing hair and make-up ladies, who were on hand to transform us from after work to work it ladies! The fab make-up team from Illamasqua, make-up for your alter ego, transformed me with lashings of eye liner and shocking pink lips (I will be spending a large amount of my pay cheque on this make-up brand) and to match my glam 50s siren make-up, the lovely hairdresser from Cobella created beautiful waves (we were going for Kate Winslet at the Oscars). After all that preening and several glasses of champagne, we were ready for our close up!
Thanks to ASOS for holding such a fab night and spoiling us all rotten! Here’s a few of my favourite pieces from the new collection! Enjoy!
