I was lucky enough to be invited to both Jonathan Saunders and Peter Pilotto last week at LFW, but I wasn’t lucky enough to have my Peter Pilotto ticket in time to actually go to the show (unreliable post!). We’ve had a crazy week at Self Service with our Alice in Wonderland Tom Binns event, so we haven’t had a chance to post about the last few amazing shows from London Fashion Week! Here are the last 2 show run-downs of LFW AW2010 – enjoy!
A unique and clinical warehouse was the setting for Jonathan Saunders AW 10 catwalk show at The Old Truman Brewery, on Brick Lane. It was a bit of a journey from LFW HQ, Somerset House, but most definitely worth it! The stripped back space still smelt of wet paint after every surface had been painted a crisp, brilliant white.
The minimal surroundings reflected Saunders clean, crisp lines and stunning colour palette of white, black, grey, sky blue, red and aqua. The collection had a casual, relaxed sporty feel with Parka’s paired with knee length dropped waist skirts. Everything on show was wearable and the perfect blend of fashion, comfort and style. Most impressive were the blurred digital prints, laser cutting, fringing and the tranquil colour palette injected with bright red. The collection was just like the setting; simple, urban and chic.
Having sadly missed the Peter Pilotto show (which was held in Selfridges carpark to compliment their move to daywear/tailoring) I’m covering the catwalk based on the photos I’ve seen, rather than being there myself. The first thing that caught my attention were the brilliant pops of orange among an otherwise sombre colour palette of brown, grey and black. Boxy shapes and dress coats complimented cigarette pants and were juxtaposed with draped mini-dresses with multi-coloured cosmic prints. A simply stunning collection that had a retro feel with shapes and use of fur, but mixed it up with flirty cocktail dresses and pops of dramatic colour. I really am sorry I didn’t see it for myself (even in the cold Selfridges carpark!)
And that concludes our LFW coverage. Until September! Hope you’ve all enjoyed it!
