I forget, are the MTV EMAs about music or fashion??? Well i think the EMAs 2009 was definitely both! With host Katy Perry wearing no less than 12 outfits during the night (not to mention the other outfits she’s worn for EMA press events!) she started a fashionista challenge with every diva worth her rider list competing to see who could have the most outfits changes or be the belle of the flashbulbs on the red carpet!
Katy kicked things off on the red carpet with this drool-inducing pink Marchesa gown; one shouldered, lace, and ballerina pink – three trends at once – this gal means business!
Katy’s co-host for the evenings awards show in Berlin were Pette Wentz and Joss Stone, who held the fort on the red carpet. Joss often gets a lot of stick for her fashion choices, but we think she’s back on fashion-track with this gorgeous dress from Black Halo and suede knee-high boots (loving the simple hair and make-up too!) Top marks, Stone!
Two ladies looking divine in head to toe black were Pixie Lott and Leona Lewis, who both pulled off black outfits and accessories perfectly adding glitz and glamour to the look with embellishment (loving Leona’s Vivienne Westwood sequin harem pants and Pixie’s D&G bejewelled skyscraper shoes!)
Beyonce and Shakira show how to work the metallic look with car-crash curves! Shakira’s Verscae dress showed just why ‘Shewolf’ is such a popular video (and check out those shoes! I’ve got vertigo just looking at them!) Both ladies then went on to wow again, when they performed at the ceremony in show-stopping outfits!
It wasn’t just the girls upping the style stakes at the EMAs, DJ of the moment, David Guetta, looked rockstar cool in sneeks, skinny scarf and blondie t-shirt.
The main trend on stage with the girls was cabaret! Corsets, stockings, suspenders and lots of skin was the look of the night, with the likes of Leona Lewis, Beyonce, Shakira and Katy Perry all showing that they know how to keep the punters happy! And as Katy herself said last night, ‘Are you feeling sexy, Berlin?‘, the answer was undoubtedly YES!
